Buying Colombian pesos in Miami for your trip to Colombia
South Florida is home to one of the largest Colombian communities in the United States, and many of our customers fly to Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla or Cartagena to see family. In Colombia, cash still matters: taxis, corner stores, markets, small restaurants and tips are often paid in pesos. Landing with some already in your wallet saves you the airport exchange counter, or a search for an ATM, after a long flight.
Big numbers, a clear total
Peso amounts run into the hundreds of thousands, so it helps to see the math before you commit. Enter the amount of pesos in the quoter and it shows today's rate and the total in dollars. Once you place the order, the rate holds for 24 hours, so the total you saw is the total you pay.
How the order works
Online orders start at $300 and carry a $5 processing fee, shown at checkout before you confirm. Pay by ACH bank transfer or in cash when you pick up. Pickup is free at Bayside Marketplace in Downtown Miami and at Coral Ridge Mall in Fort Lauderdale; FedEx delivery to a Florida address costs $24 for 2-Day or $29 for Overnight. Bring a valid photo ID, and we count the pesos in front of you.
When pesos need to be ordered
Colombian pesos are subject to availability. If we can't cover your amount from stock, we place a special order: it takes 3 business days, starts at $500 and has a $10 fee. If you'll pay in cash at pickup, you send a $100 deposit by Zelle or ACH within 24 hours of ordering. Ordering a week before the trip leaves room for that.
Back from Colombia with pesos
Bring them to either store and we'll buy them back for US dollars in cash. See today's peso buy rate first, or read how selling currency works. The USD to COP page explains how the rate is quoted, and if you split your life between both countries, our guide for expats is worth a look.
