Buying British pounds in Miami for your UK trip
The United Kingdom kept the pound sterling, so London, Edinburgh or Manchester need pounds, not euros. Contactless payment is everywhere in British cities, yet cash still comes in handy for a black cab, a weekend market, a village pub, a tip or a country bus that only takes coins and notes. If the trip also includes Dublin, keep in mind that the Republic of Ireland uses the euro while Northern Ireland uses pounds, so buy euros for that leg.
Order online and see the total first
Enter the amount in the quoter and you see today's rate and the total in dollars before you place the order. Once it's placed, the rate is held for 24 hours. The minimum online order is $300, with a $5 processing fee shown at checkout. You can pay by ACH bank transfer, using your order number as the reference, or in cash at the store.
Collect them before you fly
Pick up for free at Bayside Marketplace in Downtown Miami, from 9 AM to 7 PM, or at Coral Ridge Mall in Fort Lauderdale, from 11 AM to 7 PM. Bring the photo ID you used for the order; we count the pounds in front of you and give you a receipt. Prefer delivery? FedEx 2-Day is $24 and Overnight $29, to Florida addresses only, and orders after 5 PM Eastern Time ship from the next business day.
When pounds have to be sourced
Availability depends on the day and the amount you need. When we can't fill an order from inventory, we source the pounds for you as a special order: 3 business days, a $500 minimum and a $10 fee. Paying cash at pickup? Then a $100 deposit by Zelle or ACH within 24 hours confirms it. Ordering a week ahead takes the pressure off.
After the trip
Leftover pounds don't have to sit in a drawer until the next visit. Check today's pound buy rate and sell them at either store for US dollars in cash. You can also follow the USD to GBP rate or read how buying foreign currency works with us.
